Bishop Vernice Seriale, Sr. was born, August 9, 1943, to Horace and Audrey Seriale in Ville Platte, Louisiana. Bishop Seriale is the first born of eight children. He attended the local schools in the Ville Platte area and graduated in 1964. In 1965, Bishop Seriale married his love of five years, Jerry Lynn Simon of Mamou, Louisiana. To this union, God blessed them with five children: one daughter – Kimberly Seriale Williams; and four sons – Vernice Jr., Orlando, and Joshua Seriale, and James Ross. Bishop Seriale is also the proud grandfather of three girls and three boys: Jamesha Elayne, Valencia Denise and Kirkland Nathanial born to Reverend Ural and Kimberly Williams; and Kennedy Paige, Vernice III and Sterling Jackson born to Mr. and Mrs. Vernice and Erika Seriale, Jr. Since the age of 10 years old, Bishop Seriale experienced the Will of God for his life through dreams and visions. At age 29, Bishop Seriale confessed his calling to the ministry at Christian Faith Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a member faithfully for thirteen years under the leadership of Pastor Leroy Joseph. Bishop Seriale preached his first sermon on November 10, 1973. Pastor Leroy Joseph ordained Bishop Seriale as Reverend Vernice Seriale, Sr. on August 31, 1974. Now know as Reverend Seriale, being used mightily by God, he accepted the call to minister as Chaplain of the Harris County Juvenile Detention Center in Houston, Texas. God used Reverend Seriale to reach many drug abused, criminal offenders, and neglected teens. Recognizing that God had a special ministry work for Reverend Seriale, he was called in 1979 to Pastor at St. Marks Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. He served there for three years. Desiring a greater move from God, Pastor Seriale organized St. Paul’s Missionary Baptist Church in 1981. On May 27, 1985, Pastor Seriale received his Bachelor of Science in Theology degree from the Union Baptist College and Seminary. Standing on the Word of God, "Your tradition has made the word of God of none affect," Pastor Seriale followed the Will of God in 1992 and renamed St. Paul’s Missionary Baptist Church to the Houston Christian United People's Center, The CUP, a non-denomination, international ministry. The motto at The CUP is: "Good, Better, Best, never let it rest until your good is better, and your better is best." Pastor Seriale received an even higher calling into the ministry. In 1990, Pastor Seriale acknowledged the call of Bishop from Pastor Leroy Joseph. In 1993, Bishop Leonard consecrated Pastor Seriale as Bishop Vernice Seriale, Sr. with Pastor Leroy Joseph and a host of Houston’s anointed Pastors in attendance. Bishop Seriale is a visionary and an obedient servant of God. Bishop Seriale believes what the Word of God says, "Without a vision, the people perish." As God gives the vision, He will give the provision. During his Pastorate, Bishop Seriale has followed God’s instruction and has organized many ministries. Bishop Seriale believes and operates in the full five fold ministry. Because of his continued obedience to the Father and being sold to Jesus Christ, God has blessed him wonderfully. Bishop Seriale would not give anything for this journey and proclaims, "Look what the Lord has done with just a few people. That’s the miracle of God! But I can’t wait to see where He’s taking us in the 21st century. Let us Celebrate Jesus!" Email Bishop Seriale at bishop@thecup.org
