Message from Bishop
November 2001
And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."
Matthew 28:18-20 (NAS)

Pray Until
Something Happens
Now He was telling them a parable to show that at all times they ought to pray and not to lose heart,
saying, "There was in a certain city a judge who did not fear God, and did not respect man.
"And there was a widow in that city, and she kept coming to him, saying, 'Give me legal protection from my opponent.'
And for a while he was unwilling; but afterward he said to himself, 'Even though I do not fear God nor respect man,
yet because this widow bothers me, I will give her legal protection, lest by continually coming she wear me
out.' And the Lord said, "Hear what the unrighteous judge said; now shall not God bring about justice for His elect, who cry to Him day and night, and will He delay long over them?
I tell you that He will bring about justice for them speedily. However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?"
Luke 18:1-8 (NAS)
In this parable, The Lord Jesus Christ encourages us to always
pray. We should keep praying and not give up.
Woman in the parable had suffered an injustice and wanted the
unrighteous judge to rule in her favor. Though the judge did not fear God
or any man, the persistent bothering by the widow got the best of the
judge. Her perseverance simply worn him down.
The Lord, just as the widow was persistent, wants us to be
persistent in our prayers. Unlike the judge, The Lord is righteous.
He hears all of our prayers. We may not think so because we do not see any
answers to our prayers. However, He wants to see our commitment.
Remember, prayer is communication with The Lord. He wants to hear from us,
and not just the microwave requests. He wants us to spend time in talking
with Him.
He will answer your prayers. He wants to provide for His
"elect." What we see as delays in our prayers "are not
delays of inactivity but delays of preparation....The moment we send Him a
request that is in His will....God begins to work. We may not see it now,
but one day the answer will come" (Wiersbe, The Bible Exposition
Commentary, Victor).
So, I encourage you to be persistent in your prayers.
