Message from Bishop
January 2001

And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying,  "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."
Matthew 28:18-20 (NAS)

What Time Is It?

We have many questions everyday about time.  We ask people when we do not have a watch, "What time is it?"  During this present day, we may ask ourselves, "Was January 1, 2000, the dawning of a new century or is it January 1, 2001?"

In Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, we are given some insight in to time:

To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck what is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A time to gain, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to throw away; A time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace. (NKJ)

In times of trials and tribulations, we may ask the Lord, "When will my prayers be answered?"  We are directed in Proverbs 3:5-6 to do the following:

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5-6
(NAS)

The Bible does direct us what to do with our time.

If you are saved and have received the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, The Prophet Hosea in Hosea 10:12 and our Lord Jesus Christ in Matthew 28:19-20 tells us what we should do with our time:

Sow with a view to righteousness, reap in accordance with kindness; break up your fallow ground, for it is time to seek the LORD until He comes to rain righteousness on you.  Hosea 10:12 (NAS)

"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.  Matthew 28:19-20 (NKJ)

If you are not saved and have not received Jesus as your personal Savior, Jesus tells you that the Time Is Now for you to receive the gift of salvation! Please do not go into the year 2001 without receiving this free gift.  The price of salvation was paid over 2000 years ago by Jesus.  The Apostle Peter tell us in of this in 1 Peter 3:18

For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit... (NIV)

It is indeed a free gift from Jesus and is something you do not have to work for to obtain!  It is a free gift available to anyone at anytime regardless of your past or present circumstances.  The Apostle John tell us of this in John 3:17 and The Apostle Paul in Ephesians 2:8-9:

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be savedJohn 3:17 (KJV)

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, {it is} the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9 (NAS)

Why do you need a Savior?
Jesus explains it to us in John 14:6 and The Apostle Paul amplifies the need in Romans 6:23:

Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.  John 14:6 (NKJ)

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Romans 6:23 (KJV)

How do you receive the free gift of salvation?
Confess with your mouth and pray the sinner's prayer:

That if you confess with your mouth Jesus {as} Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved; for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.
Romans 10:9-10 (NAS)

Pray the "Plan of Salvation" prayer

Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner and I need your forgiveness.
I know you died on the cross for me.
I now turn from my sins and ask you to forgive me.
I now invite you into my heart and my life.
I now trust you as a savior of my soul.
And, I follow you as Lord.
Thank you Jesus for saving me.
