Message from Bishop
May 2001

And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying,  "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."
Matthew 28:18-20 (NAS)

Noah, Joseph, Moses, Samuel, Job, Daniel

What do all of these men have in common?

  • All were leaders who did not seek their position

  • All were prophets

  • All were God-centered

  • All listened to God

All the above common traits are the obvious ones. However, look deeper into each man.

  • All stood alone
  • No one was blessed until each went through tremendous personal trials

The Lord was not looking at each man's abilities, He was looking at each man's availability.  Each man made himself available to the Lord.  Each man listened to God.  God in turn listened and answered their prayers. However, life for each man was not strife-free.  Rather, each man suffered greatly for following the Lord.  Each man was blessed and those around them were blessed, but the blessings came with hardships and persecutions.

Read about each man.  Read the Gospels of Mark, Matthew, Luke and John.  Read about the Acts of the Apostles.  Read about the hardships and the blessings.  Read how each remained steadfast in their faith with and in God.  Then look at yourself.  Each was an ordinary person like yourself who made themselves available to the Lord.  Ask the Lord, "What can I do for you?" and experience what the Lord will do in and with your life.
