Message from Bishop
April 2002
And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."
Matthew 28:18-20 (NAS)

What is Faith?
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
(Hebrews 11:1 KJV)
What is Faith? We use the word everyday and really do
not consider what it truly means.
For example: When you are driving through an
intersection with your traffic light showing green, you have faith that the
drivers approaching the intersection on the cross street will stop at their red
light. You hope that the other drivers will obey the traffic laws and stop
although you really do not know them and have not seen them stop.
Or another example: You have faith that your football
team will win the game. You hope for the win although the game is not
over.
"Faith is more that just believing; it is trusting our
very lives to what we believe. For example, we can believe that someone
can walk across a deep gorge on a tightrope. But are we willing to trust
that person to carry us across? Faith says yes. Faith in God says
that we are willing to trust God with our very lives. We are willing to
follow his guidelines for living as outlined in the Bible because we have the
conviction that this will be the best for us. We are even willing to
endure ridicule and persecution for our faith because we are so sure that what
we believe is true and that the Christian life is what is best for us
eternally."
(TouchPoint Bible, 1996, Tyndale House Publishers, Inc.,
Wheaton, IL, page 1193.)
You have faith in your fellow man whom you do not know.
Can you have faith in God whom you do know?
